     ECC's Wedding Page...

For all your wedding needs.

We are excited for you as you begin the process of choosing a Christian ministry to partner in your preparation for marriage, facilitation of your wedding service and continued growth of your marriage relationship. We at ECC want to help you as much as possible to make this a loving, lasting, joyous marriage. It is with that desire on our part that we endeavor to help you in making good decisions before, during and after the ceremony. Marriage for us is a sacred, lifelong, foundational commitment between a man and a woman. It will have the greatest affect on the rest of your life with the single exception of one other relationship, your relationship with Jesus Christ. So with that in mind, thanks for allowing us to share our heart of what we consider to be critical values for a great wedding and marriage:

Ø          We see marriage as a sacred trust between man and woman in the sight of God.

Ø          We recognize that our world has placed much emphasis on the “event” of getting married but little effort into the reality of lasting marriages.

Ø          We take this commitment very seriously at ECC, so just as we would not think of violating your principles, please respect the following biblical values by which we live:

Ø      Respect for Pastoral permission to be married and biblical authority regarding marital relationships—issues such as compatibility, remarriage, cohabiting issues, and pregnancy

Ø      Sexual abstinence before marriage

Ø      Pre-marital counseling (minimum of 3 or equivalent)

Ø      Honoring of parents and their joyful consent (if possible)

Ø      Staff approval of visiting pastors performing ceremonies

Ø      Respect for our facility and what is appropriate behavior on church grounds. If you don’t know, just ask and we will be glad to help you out here.  Basically, it boils down to treating our home like your home when special guests visit.

It really is pretty simple.

After you have read this and feel that you’d like to move forward a bit more, just give us a call (884-7253) to set up an appointment with one of our pastors. We will not schedule a date for your wedding until you have an OK from one of them. You can tentatively reserve a date if you like, but it will not be permanent and can be “bumped” until the interview with a pastor on staff and your wedding are cleared. Just so you get a feel for this, you’ll need at least 3 months prior approval for this to work.

When you call for your interview appointment, you can also get more information regarding costs and other details regarding building use. So ask away. We want more than anything for your wedding to be an incredible lifelong experience that sets the stage for an even more incredible marriage.

Maybe this following illustration will help.

If you were going to take a trip, you would not just wake up one day and say, “I think I’ll hop a plane today….” In order for you to take a flight, there needs to be a tremendous amount of planning, building of planes, airports and so on for you to fly. It took careful preparation, years of it. Now when you get on that plane, you would never think about just taking off, circling the airport, then landing back at the terminal. You want that plane to take you to your destination. That is exactly what you are doing with your wedding and marriage. You are taking off, but it won’t happen without careful planning and a deep commitment to see it through to its fullest. Just as taking off in a jet plane is exciting, it is not the end, but the beginning.  Lord willing, this will be a wonderful journey for both of you, but it is exactly that, a life long journey. Prepare well, and please allow us the wonderful opportunity to help you throughout your entire marriage journey.
